Under the 'Keeping children safe in education Act 2023', all our staff have full background checks carried out to ensure the safety of everyone we work with. This includes but is not limited to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and social media checks.
Kelly is a fully qualified Counsellor. She gained a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and then continued on to a Counselling Degree which focused on working with children and young people and working with P.T.S.D.
On completion of her Degree she founded K.C. Counselling; a private practice which she ran from home. K.C. Counselling has expanded and is now known as:

The majority of Kelly's work is in schools with children, giving counselling on a 1:1 basis and running workshops for small groups. Kelly has experience working with children affected by SEND needs, Looked after children, bereavement & loss, anxiety, family issues & more.
Kelly also offers 1:1 sessions with adults both face-to-face and online.
Kelly is a member of the National Counselling Society and holds an enhanced DBS
Mandy has worked in business admin and finance for over 30 years which also included running her own small business.
She now looks after the day to day running of The Listening Tree making sure all of our key information is up to date, maintaining clients records, monitoring and maintaining social media/emails and ensuring the safety and welfare of all our staff.
Mandy will also be help run the parent information events and lead our online forums.
Karen is a fully qualified Counsellor with a level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. She has over 15 years experience as a teacher and has developed her counselling skills working with young people in high schools, colleges and at 'Mind' Halton.
Her role at The Listening Tree is to work creatively in high schools on a 1:1 basis or with small groups whilst also offering support to parents through parent information workshops.
Karen is a member of the National Counselling Society-NCS and holds an enhanced DBS.
Alicia is a fully qualified Counsellor with a level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. She has over 14 years experience working with Children, young people and families in wide variety of different settings specialising in working with children and young people with complex needs and trauma.
Alicia also has a degree in Applied Social Sciences and Critical Criminology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Youth and Community Development Work.
Alicia has developed her counselling skills working with young people in high schools with Place2be and at Well Women Centres.
Her role at The Listening Tree is to work creatively in high schools on a 1:1 basis or with small groups whilst also offering support to parents through parent information workshops.
Alicia is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and holds an enhanced DBS.
Debbie is a qualified Integrative children and young adults counsellor who is trained to Foundation Degree Level 5.
With over 20 years’ experience within education and social care, she has developed her skills to work collaboratively with children and parents to ensure the best outcomes.
Most recently Debbie has worked in private education with children and young adults with complex learning difficulties. Her knowledge of neuro-diversity helps her to use a model of therapy which allows her clients to express their individual needs.
Debbie uses a play-based approach to support her younger clients to understand and manage their emotions. She also enjoys working creatively with teens and young adults. Debbie recognises that life’s challenges can be overwhelming for this age group and gives her clients opportunities to direct their own therapy.
Lisa is a fully qualified counsellor with a Foundation Degree in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy. Lisa has developed her counselling skills working with The McMullen Project (Preston), Care in the Community (Blackpool), and The Wish Centre (Blackburn).
She has over 10 years’ experience of working with children in schools as a teaching assistant. This involved working with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and behavioural difficulties.
Lisa is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), holds an enhanced DBS certificate and is fully insured.
Elaine is a fully qualified counsellor and clinical supervisor. She gained her Diploma in Counselling in 2006 and since then has worked with adults, children and young people in a variety of settings including NSPCC and other community-based charities, in schools and colleges both as a counsellor and supervisor. This work has involved working with children and young people who were looked after by the Local Authority, and supervision in the field of sexual violence and sexual abuse.
Elaine has worked in the field of domestic abuse for 18 years, working for Women’s Aid in a refuge and while at NSPCC, worked on their Perpetrator Programme with male perpetrators of domestic abuse. She was the Domestic Violence Co-ordinator and Training Officer at St. Helen’s Council for five years. In this role she provided multi-agency training on domestic abuse and child protection and delivered healthy relationship programmes to local schools and colleges.
Having worked in the field of trauma for many years, Elaine decided to consolidate her knowledge by studying for a MSc in Therapeutic Interventions for Psychological Trauma at the University of Chester. She graduated in December 2020.
Elaine holds an enhanced DBS, is fully insured and is an Accredited Member of the BACP.
Megan is qualified with a First Class Degree in Psychology and is currently working as a teacher in a SEND school.
She has experience of working with professionals on the neurodevelopmental pathway, working with children with attachment disorders and with children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Her passion is to work and support children with ASC and their families.

Eleanor is a fully qualified Counsellor and Supervisor. Eleanor has a Degree in counselling and is a qualified CBT, EMDR and Trauma Therapist.
She has experience of working within the NHS, GP Surgery and a family centre where she worked for 14 years.
Eleanor currently runs a successful private practice, is an affiliate of BUPA, AXA and AVIVA, EAP services amongst numerous others. she has experience working with a number of issues including anxiety, depression and trauma.
Eleanor is also an experienced supervisor, working with clients from charitable organisations to individual counsellors both qualified and students.
Eleanor holds an enhanced DBS is fully insured and is an Accredited member of the BACP
